Shifting gears.

If you had told me six years ago that I would be an “entrepreneur,” I would have cringed. I didn’t think I’d have the fortitude to swim against currents, the ability to remain calm in the face of crisis, and the ability to listen and lead.

And yet, here I am— several challenges later— even finding the ability to smile in the midst of all that is unpredictable. In a way, being an entrepreneur taught me skills that I would need for a happy life: firmness of resolve, relentless commitment to values, humility to learn from mistakes, an appreciation of people, and a strength of mind to determine which thoughts matter to the course that you pursue.

I’m still in the process of learning, but I’ve decided that the best way to improve on it is to share it— successes and failures alike. In the coming days, I’ll share with you my understanding of success, as well as my love-hate relationship with my own failures.

For as reluctant as I have been to admit it, and for all my doubts associated with what I lack, I have grown to be an entrepreneur. It’s a calling not for the faint-hearted, but one that surprisingly grows your capacity to find wonder, fire, and even love in the world.
